In the municipality of Kenscoff, near the capital of Haiti, Port-au-Prince, a tragic event was recorded this Sunday in which a soldier of the Armed Forces of Haiti (FADH) and two agents of the Protected Air Security Brigade (BSAP) were killed by armed gang members. The information was confirmed by the spokesperson of the National Police of Haiti (PNH), Lionel Lazare, who indicated that law enforcement managed to regain control of the area where the events occurred, known as Teleco, in Kenscoff, which houses the antennas of the radios from the metropolitan region of the capital. The authorities have deployed all units of the police institution in the area to confront the armed gangs, which reportedly seek to take over the space to control media dissemination and extort its owners. This attack adds to other episodes of violence in the commune of Kenscoff at the hands of these gangs, part of the coalition Vivre Ensemble (Live Together), which have already caused significant damage in the area in the past. A previous attack at the end of January left at least fifty dead and more than one hundred houses destroyed. According to the National Network for the Defense of Human Rights in Haiti, which documents abuses committed by gangs in the country, these organizations seek to expand their control in different communes, such as Petion-ville and Delmas, which are still not under their direct control. It is estimated that armed gangs already control almost 85% of the area of Port-au-Prince.
