Haitian authorities have conducted a major operation against criminal gangs targeting one of their main leaders, Jimmy Chérizier, known as "Barbecue", a police official said. National Police spokesman Franz Lrorbor announced on Saturday that "the targeted operation allowed us to destroy his home and reduce the threat of his group's return to the area." A drone attack carried out on Wednesday in the capital, Port-au-Prince, targeted the home of "Barbecue," leader of the "G9 Family and Allies" criminal alliance and one of the most prominent figures in the criminal groups plaguing this poor Caribbean country. The Haitian police carry out daily operations in the center of Port-au-Prince, which is controlled by armed groups.
